Fergal Smith Visits Spoke & Stringer
Ex Prosurfer, Fergal Smith (Finisterre Ambassador) came to visit Spoke and Stringer, had a brief chat to Bristolians about his current projects that he’s working on.
We had the privilege to chat to Fergal before his talk about what he’s doing to make his mark in the world. He’s a sound guy; he’s been surfing all his life, started to take it to a professional level at the age of 17 and by the age of 23 he was at the peak of his career.
But something was missing, and he started to question “When is enough enough?”. That’s when he turned to the only thing he knew apart from surfing, that is growing vegetables.
But he didn’t want to follow the traditional farming model where the farmer did all the hard work and didn’t make enough just to live. He’s following a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. It’s essentially an active community that supports the farm and the farmer.
He’s trying to make this happen and he believes it so much that he’s running for election in Ireland to make a stand. That’s pretty fucking impressive.
But first things first, trying to learn how to talk to the public and we’re lad to have been apart of what he’s trying to accomplish.
All the best to Fergal and his endeavours.
