The perfect tapas and wine pairings for a winter evening
The evenings might still be cold and dark, but the brand-new evening menu at our Whiteladies Road restaurant is offering some delicious treats to tempt you out in the evening. Perfectly suited for after work drinks or a pre-cinema bite to eat, the new evening menu is filled with locally sourced, fresh ingredients to create dishes that encourage sharing.
To help you pick the perfect dishes to go with an after-work wine, here are the best pairing options from our new tapas menu with our carefully chosen selection of wines:
Sweet potato, feta and chorizo quesadilla: a delicious staple in any tapas menu is of course chorizo, which is mixed here with sweet potato and feta into one great quesadilla. For this dish we recommend choosing the La Mancha Tempranillo wine. This light and fruity organic wine has hints of chocolate which combines well with the intense smoky flavour of the chorizo.
Halloumi fries with chilli jam: the salty flavours of halloumi match well with the sweet acidity of a refreshing Rosé. Our Conde Pinel from Castilla offers those fruity flavours and sweet summer aromas that play with the tangy cheese to really make the flavours of the dish pop.
Chilli and Lime squid: this tasty chilli and lime squid dish needs a light, crisp white wine to really bring out the flavours of the squid. Go for the Chile Sauvignon Blanc, which offers a refreshing taste with light citrus notes, the perfect complement to the hint of lime in the dish.
Pork belly & beans quesadilla: a classic combination, the pork belly and beans quesadilla has a great meaty flavour and is the perfect choice to fill you up. The Chakana Malbec from Argentina has a full juicy body, and the spicy notes in pork are a great companion for a rich Malbec.
