It is estimated that more than 650,000 marine animals, including dolphins, whales, seals and turtles, are killed or injured by ghost fishing nets each year. In many cases, animals get caught and die in nets that are no longer used by fishermen.
At ECOMB we have a passion for all things relating to surfing sustainability and our oceans and this is where the ecomb does its bit to help out. The ecomb is a surfboard wax comb that is made out of 100% reclaimed fishing nets from the fishing industry that would have either gone to land fill or even worse potentially ended in our beautiful oceans as ghost nets.
Manufactured at a small company in the Southwest of England, any waste that is produced goes straight back into the process creating a closed loop system. Think of when you are making pasties and you reuse the left over pastry for jam tarts. Nothing goes to waste and as a bonus we get some really cool colours doing this, which can be purchased in our Tie Dye range!
